About

Akachimere C. Uzosike, MD, MPH, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who specializes in all aspects of non-surgical and surgical care of the adult and pediatric spine. Dr. Uzosike treats conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, including traumatic spinal injuries, spinal deformity, tumors, infections, and degenerative spine conditions.

Dr. Uzosike emphasizes a conservative approach to treatment, favoring physical therapy, medications, and injections as first-line options before recommending surgery. When surgery is necessary, he utilizes advanced techniques, such as minimally invasive procedures, operative navigation, and robotics, to ensure the best outcomes. His patient care is highly individualized, as he collaborates closely with each person to create a treatment plan tailored to their specific goals, occupation, and lifestyle.

Dr. Uzosike earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree, along with a Master of Public Health, from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, respectively. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program in Boston, MA, followed by a fellowship in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery at NYU Langone Hospital in New York, NY.

In his free time, Dr. Uzosike enjoys playing tennis, cooking, traveling, and searching for new hobbies.
