View ProfileWhat inspired you to pursue a career in orthopedic surgery?
I first became interested in orthopedic surgery during college, when several of my teammates experienced injuries. Watching their recovery sparked my curiosity about the process of healing and returning to activity.
That interest deepened in medical school, where I was drawn specifically to hip and knee replacement surgery. While participating in these procedures was impactful, it was my interactions with patients that solidified my passion. Hearing their stories of pain relief, restored function, and renewed quality of life was incredibly meaningful.
Being able to help people return to the activities they enjoy, free from pain, is what I find most rewarding about orthopedic surgery and what continues to drive my focus on hip and knee replacement.
What is most important to you when caring for patients?
Allowing patients to share their story and feel heard is central to my treatment philosophy. It creates the foundation for shared decision-making and allows us to develop an individualized treatment plan together, with the common goal of relieving pain, improving function, and enhancing quality of life.
What advancements in joint replacement are you most excited about?
Joint replacement surgery, particularly hip and knee replacement, is a rapidly evolving field. Advancements in surgical techniques, implant technology, and navigation and robotic systems continue to enhance both precision and outcomes. I have been fortunate to train in and incorporate many of these innovations into my practice, with a focus on improving surgical accuracy and helping patients recover more quickly.
How do you stay up to date with the latest techniques and research?
I stay current with advancements in hip and knee replacement by regularly reviewing scientific literature and participating in journal clubs. I am also a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and attend educational events and conferences throughout the year. I value continuous learning and am always looking for ways to improve outcomes for my patients.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love spending time with my wife and two sons. We spend quite a bit of time outside, at playgrounds, and participating in various sports. I also enjoy golfing, woodworking, and ice hockey.
